What Is Labour Exploitation?

This online lecture is part of lectures of Helsingin Työväenopisto, Adult education institutes in Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa

In this lecture, you will learn what labour exploitation and human trafficing looks like in Finland, how it affects the victim and the society. You will hear examples of labour exploitation in Finland from previous years and currents years, and stories which is adapted from real-life events.

Additionally, the lecture will give tools on how to identify a potential victim (useful questions and indicators) and tips when encountering and referring potential victims to seek help.

There will be also time for questions and answers.

Refugee Stories in Finland

In this interactive lecture you will learn what the term refugee means and what refugee crises are globally and in Finland. You will hear what kind of refugees’ status exists, what are the connections and differences between being an immigrant and being a refugee and what happens to the refugee after the coming to the host country. You will learn what the conditions and experiences of refugees are in Finland.

During the lecture we will hear a personal, true experience of a refugee. There is also time for questions and answers.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING & MIGRANT SMGGLING

As we were interns in Nicehearts in the project of Naapuriäiti and as neighbourhood mothers, we wanted to do this awareness session. In the session the forms of human trafficking in Finland were introduced. We also presented the topic of migrant smuggling with a guest speaker (Emine) who share her personal experience. Also, we gave tools on how to identify potential victims of human trafficking and support and help resources in Finland.

The aim of the event

We believed that this session could help in preventing human trafficking amongst vulnerable immigrants and who are not aware of their rights, the system in Finland and support resources. Our responsibility as a community is to help and take care of each other in increasing awareness in our community in order to protect and support each other.

In this event refugees in Finland shared their personal experience, their struggle, challenges, hopes, and dreams.

The aim of this event was to raise refugees' voices in Finland, in order to increase awareness and tackle discrimination and prejudice against minority groups in Finland.

The event was on a voluntary basis and organized with the cooperation between Nicehearts ry and its Neighbourhood Mothers projects, and Sky ry Suomen Kulttuurienvälinen Yhteisö (Finnish Intercultural Community).
